Picking The Right Destination

Posted by | Travel | No Comments

We have visited lots of international destinations this year, all in the name of research!  They include—Monaco, Amsterdam, Italy, Frankfurt, Morocco, Lisbon, Cannes, Valencia and Barcelona and a short trip to Canada before the end of the year.  But which destinations get our vote?

Amsterdam is a good destination as there are so many hotels and venues to choose from and the people are so helpful and welcoming.  Sylvain visited twice (too much to see on one trip!) and Louise has booked the Hilton Amsterdam a couple of times this year.  “Both events went really well,” says Louise.  “The staff were professional and the feedback was excellent.  We have another booking there for next year which I am confident will go equally smoothly.”

You don’t have to leave the country for a great location- Brighton seems to be getting more and more popular. Several hotels have just completed refurbishments too so well worth a look.

Spain offers plenty of options. Louise was in Valencia, which was a new destination for her.  “I really liked the mixture of historic and contemporary architecture and there was a lot of potential for meetings and activities”  Whilst Sue went to Tarragona about an hour along the coast from Barcelona.  “You have already seen my Paella! Le Meridien Ra where I stayed was lovely and a really good option for exclusive use out of season, with some modern, blank space meeting rooms. Close to the hotel were Karting, wine tasting and horse riding.”

“I loved Cannes,” says Sue. “perfect for a short incentive or a top end residential meeting.  There was a really relaxed atmosphere and with short boat trips to the islands it is perfect for getting your delegates out of a meeting room.”

Great Hotels 2015

UK Hotels we have loved in 2015

Sylvain visited Brocket Hall in Welwyn and was very impressed saying that the facilities and food were outstanding.  There are 9 meeting rooms over 3 buildings, the largest is in the main house and can hold 150 theatre style.  There are 30 luxurious bedrooms in the main house and a further 16 in the Melbourne Lodge.

The HAC in London is always popular with Louise. They offer a choice of rooms of different sizes and we have always had really good feedback.  “It is a lovely venue and clients love using it” says Louise.

“I can’t fault the Corinthia in London,” says Sylvain.  “The service is of the highest standard and it has a lovely intimate feel to it.”

Karen visited Kensington Close Hotel in London after its full refurbishment.  “The public areas are really nice and welcoming.  The meetings spaces varying in size and the accommodation is of a good standard.  The location makes this a really useful hotel as it is close to the underground and easily accessible.”

“I booked Alexandra House in Swindon for a large, last minute event. I found the staff very helpful and happy to accommodate last minute changes.  The feedback from the client was great too,” said Tanya.  The hotel has 152 bedrooms and 18 meeting rooms as well as grounds for team building activities.

Karen likes Sketchley Grange Hotel in Leicester, as the staff are very friendly and proactive.  The hotel has had £6 million spent on it in recent years to enhance the meeting facilities and bring them up to standard with the largest room holding a maximum of 300 delegates in theatre style.  They also have a lovely spa!

We love Chesford Grange, a Q Hotel, in Warwickshire.  “The meeting rooms are great, really adaptable and with their own entrance.  The team are so helpful  and friendly and work so hard to make every event a success.  Good location too.”
