I was lucky enough to visit the stunningly beautiful Lake Maggiore in Northern Italy last month where I stayed in the Grand Hotel Dino. The hotel is the largest hotel in the area with 36 meeting rooms and 40 studios, all with natural daylight and many with views over the lake. The largest room can accommodate 1200 delegates theatre style. The hotel has beautiful gardens which can be used for outdoor dining and a private jetty.
Whist the area is very unspoilt, traditional and quiet there are plenty of things to do. All sorts of activities are available in the vicinity from motor boat island hopping, jeep treasure hunts into the mountains, hiking, white water sports as well as savouring the local food and drink.
One offsite dinner took place on the lovely island of Stresa where we were met by an accordion player in traditional costume and had refreshments in the village square before moving on to a lovely family run restaurant for dinner.
If you are looking for a more intimate venue on Lake Maggiore the Grand Hotel Majestic might work well for you. 105 bedrooms, 5 meeting rooms, spa, restaurant, gardens and a private island
Another evening was spent at the 2 Michelin star Piccolo Lago Ristorante. It is difficult to say what makes this restaurant so special – the views or the food! Perfect for 10—250 guests, they also have a marquee which can cater for up to 800.
