South of France and Monaco

If you are organising a meeting, conference or incentive trip it is really worth considering the South of France and Monaco. Beautiful locations with (usually) good weather, excellent cuisine, lots to do and a selection of hotels and venues in which to sit back and watch the yachts sailing past on the crystal blue Mediterranean Sea.

This elegant stretch of coast can be surprisingly reasonable if you hold your event in the off peak season which is usually between October andMarch and with bed and breakfast rates from €119 it is really worth considering.

Last month Sylvain went exploring along the coast. Arriving at Nice International Airport the journey to Cannes to the west takes around 30 minutes by car as does the trip in the opposite direction to Monaco—or you could do as Sylvain did and take a helicopter—the perfect start to an incentive trip!

Sylvain stayed at the “Amazing” Monte Carlo Bay hotel a 334 bedroom hotel with beautiful gardens, luxurious spa, and choice of restaurants, bars, casino, live shows and a nightclub. There is a wide selection of hotels but Sylvain was also impressed by:
Marriott Riviera La Porte de Monaco – on the border with Nice, renovated last year with 80% of bedrooms with sea-views and private terraces. The lounge overlooking the Yacht harbour can be hired with its private terrace for a cocktail party for up to 200. Hotel Hermitage offers historic luxury (built in 1900) the largest meeting room can accommodate 340 in theatre style with 9 more rooms and a choice of lovely places to dine. And the JW Marriott in Cannes which is a 5* hotel with an impressive theatre for 820, 16 more meeting rooms, a rooftop terrace with whirlpool and a casino. This is a spectacular venue, not cheap, but you know you are following in the footsteps of the stars!

In Nice you can find a selection of hotels with most major hotel groups represented. Prices vary as do facilities but there is definitely plenty of choice.

The group were treated to an unexpected drive in cars from a private collection including some previously used in Bond films and one driven by James Dean.
They drove these cars, very carefully, to Le Pinocchio Restaurant which is located in a magnificent private garden on the outskirts of the medieval village of Eze. Delicious Mediterranean food is served either in the restaurant or on the beautiful shaded Terrace. This was followed by a visit to the oceanographic museum of Monaco and an opportunity to watch the changing of the guard.
“I was really impressed by the stunning Villa Ephrussi Rothschild” says Sylvain. “Such a stunning venue and perfect for private event with a real Wow Factor. The DMC who looked after us was really attentive and I would be very confident in putting our clients in touch with them.”
